Needing a Translator

05.06.15 (1)

Oh, how I need an interpreter in so much of my life!  Toddler jibberish, teen abbrev-lang, and non-verbal humphs and eye rolls left me frustrated many days.  Even my husband who speaks adult English still sometimes confuses me with what he really means.

But then there is God.  The language of heaven is not the language of earth. His ways are so often beyond my comprehension, impossible to fathom.  God for sure fits the need-a-translator category!

Yet, He has graciously come to our world, clothed Himself in our skin, been touched by our infirmities, and translated the Father’s love to us.  Though Jesus often spoke in parables, He assured us that anyone who seeks Him will find Him.  “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God,” He said to His followers (Luke 8:10).

The more time I spend in His word, the more I pray and ask for wisdom, the more I gradually train my ear to understand His way of speaking. It is a life-time language training class and rather than be discouraged it takes so long to learn, I’m focusing on the fact that He never gives up on me and is willing to keep teaching me as long as I live.

He is the interpreter of the Infinite. May you learn of Jesus with me and bask in the knowledge of the secrets of His kingdom.
