Question of the Week

Happy Friday, friends! Did you join us in our question of the week–What are three surprises from the last year?–with friends or family? We loved reading your responses! Here are just a few that encouraged us:

  1. Really knowing & a better understanding of my Heavenly Father’s Love like never before.
  2. When our refrigerator quit, dear friends paid for a new one for us!
  3. The gift of fellowship He’s given me in some dear girlfriends!

There are lots more so if you want to read and rejoice with us over all the surprises God gave, check them out here.

A couple of you mentioned the faithfulness of God and that is exactly what we want to do with these questions — help you to reflect and remember how the Lord has provided for you, cared for you, and gone before you over the last year or even the last week! Like the story in Joshua 4 and the 12 stones that the Lord commanded him to stack as a memorial, so that ‘Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground,’ we want to help you set up a memorial of sorts so you won’t forget what He has done.

Question of the week: How have you seen the Lord provide over the last year?

Thanks for joining us in this adventure! Don’t forget to leave your answer to the question in the comments!

  1. My 93 year old mother fell and broke a vertebra in her neck. A Fire Department Ambulance was driving through the alley and saw her. They helped pick her up and loaded her in the ambulance and took her to the hospital. No one even had to call 911. This could have been real bad but with God’s provision it has turned out quite good. She will be able to return home to recover as my sister is now with her.

  2. My 86 year old Mother went home January 2016. Being the HUMBLE, Proverbs 31 MOM she has always been, us 4 adult “children” were amazed to learn she had left us each enough, in our case, to double the size of our home. In 2011, God chose Papa and I (both 62!) to guide, protect and legally adopt our then 7 and 6 year old Grand Girls, Chloe and Libby, bringing them to our 1,000 sq. ft. one bedroom, one bath home on 5 acres. WHAT AN IMMENSE BLESSING!!! Home was cramped and with their “maturing” status, we were desperate for room. God provided, through our beautiful Mother, for another 3 bedrooms and two baths. Having their own “Suite” as they call it, is a blessing indeed! Now that they are almost 14 and 13, WOW, what an amazing difference it has made in our Family…Praise God from Whom ALL blessings flow! God is GOOD, AWESOME, and He gets ALL the glory!!! Praise Him!

  3. The house next door to us foreclosed last week. God has provided for Mom and me continually, related to our home and its utilities. Further, Mom’s car loan was paid in full – early! I can read, and have so many good books to read over this summer vacation.

  4. Question of the week: How have you seen the Lord provide over the last year?

My husband and I are in a season where we both work at home, and the pay is minimal. Yet, all of our bills are always paid, and we are still able to sow into our marriage, the church, and meet other personal needs. It doesn’t add up on paper, but God!

  5. This year I finished my last year of Bible college & graduated! This was a calling that I felt from God to do after I retired from my full-time job as a public school secretary. (I am now 64) This school year, one of the projects was how to raise funds for a mission trip ($2200)& then.. go on the mission trip. The trip was to Jamaica. We went into 2 poor neighborhood schools, that were in desperate need of painting & painted their building. Saw children & teachers always smiling… Painting another school that was one room, that was made of plywood, again, you saw smiles. Definitely changed your heart. Also on this trip I was given the opportunity on the first Sunday morning we were in Jamaica, to preach to a small congregation. The night before, I was asked if I would preach…God certainly was with me as this is something I thought I would never do. Actually relied on the scripture Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Obviously this is been a year of stretching along with seeing the faithfulness of God. All you have to do is believe and step out & Jesus does the rest …

I loved reading about your time in Jamaica, how the Lord provided for you and how you chose to rely on Him! So amazing! Thank you for sharing your story with us, Melissa! :)

  6. My husband got sick in 2014 and was unable to continue his job for about 2 years. Then the company he had been with for 25 years had financial difficulties and he could no longer stay with them. This all added up to us getting into a lot of debt just to keep going. But in June of 2016 God provided a new company to work for where my husband could continue doing the same job he is so good at. It was so refreshing to get a pay cheque again! But the pressure to pay bills and loans was huge as well. Still we determined to honor the Lord first with our money and now a year later as we look back we are amazed at how much each pay check accomplished every month. We have had fun being able to give again and are so thankful that God has restored my husband’s health. The job is gong very well and although we still have a ways to go to completely recover financially we are rejoicing in how God is providing for us.

Agnes, this is so amazing and a beautiful picture of the Lord providing and rewarding your faithfulness! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

  7. God, on a daily basis, continues to give me strength to take one day at a time after the suicide of my ex husband and He is helping me with the death of my Grandma just two days ago.

I am so sorry to hear about your ex-husband and your Grandma passing away. Loss is so hard but I am always thankful how He fills in the gaps and gives us strength when we feel like we can’t go on. Will be praying for your heart as you grieve. Thank you for sharing with us.

My ex-husband also committed suicide, three months after our divorce. I have so much empathy for you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. One day at a time, sometimes one second at a time. Just breathe.

My daughter needed to have hip surgery. The day she is being admitted to the hospital, her insurance approval was still pending. As I signed her in that morning, I had peace about the Lord providing. And He did!

Well once again she needs more surgery. Praying for the Lord to open the doors where necessary, He’s will be done.

Yes, amen! We will join you in asking Him to provide in His timing! Thank you for sharing Virginia!
