Never Forgotten

joshua1-5

Have you ever been forgotten? Left behind? Overlooked for someone else to be chosen instead?

It happens to all of us. But it still hurts. The betrayal stings. It leaves us wondering why we aren’t good enough, wanted enough, loved enough.

But have you ever been remembered? Was there a special day that a dear friend didn’t forget? Is there someone you can always count on to save you a spot or wait for you to catch up in the hallway?

Whether you answered yes or no to being remembered, you actually have been! The God of the universe declares that you are loved enough, wanted enough, that He will never forsake you. He has remembered you. In Joshua 1:5 He declares His presence that always accompanies you. His tender care will never leave you in want of more. Take time to praise Him for that today!

-Make a reminder of God’s presence—maybe by drawing a picture or writing out this verse— to keep in your room.

-Talk about a time this week that you have felt alone or overlooked. Rethink through that situation knowing that God was right there with you. Practice keeping your perspective on God’s presence for the next time you feel alone or overlooked.

  1. How timely! Yesterday, I found out that a very dear friend and mentor’s memorial service will be held on the very same day that we we will attending our son’s college graduation in Kentucky. We had been friends for over 35 years! Our whole Michigan family was going to attend, that’s how much she meant to us. A few hours later I was involved in a group text conversation with 2 of my siblings where only my sister was invited out to go to visit my brother and go to a concert with him. It was two blows that really crushed me. But I kept telling myself that God is my portion. He is my first love. He has His best for my life and I will focus on Him, because as He says, “I will be with you; I will not leave you or forsake you.” And I know His promises are true. In and with Him I am content… “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” 2 Cor. 4: 7-10

  2. Beautiful reminder! Love the song by Kari Jobe, I Am Not Alone. It’s been going through my mind a lot this week. Thank you! Also, if you haven’t read Lysa Teurkerst’s book “Uninvited”, it is excellent.
